Payment processing project moves forward2008-04-29The second phase of the International Payments Framework (IPF) is set to go ahead, it has been announced. A multi-national initiative that creates rules, standards, procedures and guidelines to improve cross-border payments, the IPF is being coordinated by NACHA's Global Payments Forum. Alan Koenigsberg, current co-chair of the IPF, said that representatives from 30 organizations that are involved with processing credit cards took part in the first phase of the project. "We are pleased that we have been able to assemble a coalition of diverse organizations and that this group has together endorsed the feasibility of this project," he added. According to the IPF group, the next stage of the process involves setting out the exact details of these rules and guidelines. IPF will make it possible for existing domestic or regional payment systems to work together to accept credit cards and other payments, exchange transactions in different currencies and leverage existing practices. ![]() ![]() |
